Capacity Expansion for PET Preforms
Successful Installation of a new Injection Moulding Machine
We have great news: The installation of a new production facility for PET preforms has been completed at our Optipack factory in Leppersdorf. Preforms are bottle blanks that, after injection moulding can be blown up with hot air and then be filled with liquids.
After setup, a thorough commissioning test and continuous strict quality controls the injection moulding machine is now being integrated into ongoing production.
At the same time, our compressors which supply compressed air to our injection moulding machines have been replaced with modern and highly efficient devices.
These investments enable us to expand our capacities and further optimise our product range.

The new DETO Cup in additional variants
Product innovation – the DETO Cup
In July 2024, it finally happened: Optipack one of Europe's leading manufacturers of plastic packaging for the food industry released its new product innovation, the DETO Cup – with a recyclability of over 90%.
We are now very happy to announce that the DETO Cup is also available in the first ø75mm variant, certified and patented.
Thanks to this expansion we can cover even more customer products and potential volumes. We are committed to continuing to take innovative steps that meet the future packaging requirements of the EU Packaging Directive.

PS: The cardboard wrap of the DETO Cup is designed to automatically burst open during the disposal process, without requiring any active intervention from the end consumer.

And suddenly we have grown
Expansion of the production area in Aretsried
Through a construction measure, we were able to expand the production area in our Optipack factory in Aretsried by approximately 175 square meters.
The newly gained space has been equipped with two production machines for printed cups through internal space optimization. The vacated space will of course not be left empty.
We are pleased about another investment and optimization and are convinced that we will continue to take important steps for our company and our customers.

We are well on schedule for the successful installation and smooth commissioning.
We are pleased to expand our capacity with this new production facility and to invest in our product portfolio with a forward-looking approach.

Optipack lays bare with the new DETO Cup
Product innovation – the DETO Cup
New packaging requirements are always an opportunity for Optipack, one of Europe´s leading manufacturers of plastic packaging for the food industry, to rethink products and offer even better packaging solutions.
With the patented DETO Cup and a certified recyclability of >90%, Optipack makes an important contribution to conserving resources and already meets the future requirements of the EU Packaging Directive.
The DETO Cup combines all the familiar advantages of a Desto Cup Slim, such as saving on plastic thanks to a plastic lightweight cup and maximum design freedom thanks to the cardboard banderole. With the innovative DETO Cup, the cardboard banderole is also designed so that it bursts open automatically during the disposal process without the end user having to take any action. This enables clear separation and facilitates recycling. A recyclability of >90% is certified by an independent institute.
Andechser Molkerei Scheitz GmbH is now successfully launching the DETO Cup on the market for the first time with ANDECHSER NATUR products.
The DETO Cup will be available in various models and sizes and is suitable for different applications such as dairy products, desserts or snacks.

Optipack receives FSSC 22000 certification for food safety
The certification of our food safety management system in accordance with FSSC 22000 demonstrates the commitment of Optipack to the safe production of primary packaging, high quality and continuous optimization, with both production facilities in Aretsried and Leppersdorf.
The FSSC 22000 meets the strict requirements of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and is recognized by it. It is a certification system that ensures a robust food safety management system to control hazards and minimize risks.
In addition to the requirements of ISO 22000 it covers various areas such as food safety, food defense, food waste and quality controls.

New machine for Desto Cups – Part II
We have great news: another new machine for the production of Desto Cups has been commissioned at our Optipack factory in Aretsried. Desto Cups are an innovative and environmentally friendly packaging solution.
The new machine was delivered on 07.05.2024 and underwent a thorough commissioning test and quality control after assembly. The production of Desto Cups started on 23.05.2024.
We are proud to be able to offer you even more capacity for this product with high quality, increasing recyclability and the usual high level of service.
This is an important step for our company and our customers, who have decided for an environmentally friendly packaging solution.

TROPHY IN INDOOR SOCCER
There it is!
25th MÜLLER INDOOR SOCCER TOURNAMENT
After years of waiting, this year it finally happened. On Saturday, February 10, 2024, the 25th Müller Indoor Soccer Tournament took place in the Staudenlandhalle in Fischach.
Teams from Molkerei Müller, Optipack, Ehrmann, Homann, local club Aretsried and Landliebe participated.
Our company team, which appeared in new shirts, started strong and deservedly won the first game 1:0 against the local club Aretsried. This was followed by three draws in a row. In the last game, it finally came to a showdown. Only with a victory against the leading team from Homann our kickers could still win the tournament. It was a match that was hard to beat in terms of excitement and our team deservedly won 3:0.
They showed all their skills with very nice moves, so that in the end they left the field as celebrated tournament winners. Our colleague Zeman Shkar was top scorer with 5 goals.
Not only a strong team in business but also on the field! TEAM SPIRIT is very important at Optipack.

The industry, the economy, the labour market and the society all have one thing in common. They are constantly evolving and are always changing.
We at Optipack GmbH as a part of the Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller are concerned with the labour market and in addition to the changes mentioned above with areas such as the new generation, parity and diversity as well as the shortage of skilled workers which is well known in some areas.
As sport connects people and sometimes a good network and therefore short communication channels offer more opportunities than you might think, we met Robert Kunze and his colleagues from the Kleinwachau Epilepsy Center once again after an initial meeting at our factory in Leppersdorf. The topic was to find a possibility for future co-operation.
Juliane Dannowski and Michael Baur accompanied me to ensure the best possible dialogue and secure solutions for the future.
At the end of a very exciting, enjoyable and insightful visit to both sites in Kleinwachau and Radeberg, we are optimistic that there is a possibility of cooperation.
What does this mean? The employees of the workshops help Optipack to discover new paths in an exciting environment and to complete individual tasks under attractive conditions. In return, Optipack helps to promote the inclusion of people from our region, who find it very difficult to access the primary labour market due to their limitations and to grow from it.
In the best case and if successful, then in the classical sense the quid pro quo in a real win-win situation.
A big thank you once again to the Kleinwachau Epilepsy Center and Robert Kunze for the very open, appreciative and constructive exchange including the wealth of insights.
